Algar de Benagil
Famous 2 million year old cave (algar) in Benagil, Portugal— visitors must either kayak, boat or for the adventurous— swim to it. As of 2019, even small boats are no longer allowed to let passengers off inside the cave, so the best way to get inside on the beach is by kayak, especially if you want to keep your camera gear safe.
As many photos as I took, I still don’t think they do it justice. The light shining through the holes, the rolling turquoise waves, and just the feeling of being inside a structure that’s been around for over 2 million years— well it kind of reminds you that you are just a blip on this incredible planet.
