Key West, Florida

Welcome to the southernmost point of the United States, the gateway travel destination for - enjoying lively nightlife on Duval street, exploring the home of Ernest Hemingway, savoring pastel sunsets and obviously relaxing on the beaches while tasting the local cuisine.

During my visit there, I continued past the normal tourist attractions and found more beauty in the simplicity of the island. My aunt, who lived in Key West, woke me up early one morning and we drove to Boca Chica island for a gorgeous sunrise. A must-stop on your visit should be to Key West’s Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden - eclectic mix of the island’s natural elements. One of the most striking things I found navigating Key West were the colors of the island, and the attitudes of the locals - both very soothing and refreshing. Positive, open, and accepting attitudes - welcoming to all people, Key West has been a safe space for the LGBTQ community since 1978. Check out the Gay Key West Visitor Center for more information.
